“Writer’s block” is a phenomenon that’s characterized by a block in the writing process. Continue reading on if you want to get the most out of “writer’s block!”

I’ve been on a hiatus when it comes to publishing articles, but I wanted to be experimental with this article by utilizing my current “writer’s block” as fuel to produce something that’s not only worthy of reading, but helpful when plagued with “writer’s block.”

This article is not intended to be a step-by-step approach, although that does come to mind when free-writing this piece. Just sitting down to freely write or draw, without any expectations may help with the creative process that’s necessary to defeat “writer’s block.” Consider enhancing your work space by removing distractions and clutter, setting the thermostat to a comfortable temperature, turning on background music, etc. In other words, make your work space functional, inspiring, and relaxing. It may help to go for a walk if you find that enhancing your work space doesn’t immediately help you defeat "writer’s block." Feel free to bring a notepad and pen, or your phone along to jot down some notes before returning back to your work space to resume the writing process. I actually took a break from my work space and now I’m currently in my car with the sunroof down, soaking up some sun (I always get the best creative ideas in my car) to finish writing this piece. Therefore, determine where you get the best creative ideas and enhance that space while taking breaks!

Identifying your audience is crucial — Who are you writing to? How do you want them to feel? What do you have to offer?

I write with the collective in mind — I write with the knowledge that I offer value. I don’t have the same constraints as someone that may be writing for a business; however, I acknowledge the challenges that comes with this freedom of writing and embrace that as fuel to evolve as a creative and writer. Medium is one space where I can write whatever comes to mind and I know that there will be like-minded souls that are in need of what I’m offering at that very moment — My 'Why.'
