First Book Club Gathering of 2024!
Thank you, Rochelle, for hosting our very first book club meeting. I appreciated hearing everyone’s viewpoints and seeing that I wasn’t the only one who had to adjust to her storytelling. I’m excited to see what’s to come in the story. It might be in my best interest not to read ahead, lol. I’m leaving our book club meeting with more appreciation of the story.
After today’s book club gathering, I realized my soul desired this type of interaction.
The book club emerged at a time when I was seeking both a connection with others and an escape from the everyday.
It was in today’s gathering that sisterhood was strengthened, even though the Facebook group still offered this connection, and the book provided the escape (this interaction led to what I now prefer to call our ‘gatherings’ rather than meetings, as it evokes a sense of warmth and familiarity).
As previously mentioned, I was relieved to discover that I wasn’t the only one at the gathering hosted on Google Hangouts who needed some time to adjust to Lisa Wingate’s storytelling style in “The Prayer Box.”
