“I Am Relieved the Ink Didn’t Take”
Someone I knew from the neighborhood that I grew up in had a tattoo gun, and they wanted to tattoo me. I was hesitant at first because they are not a professional, but I figured that I could use some ink on my upper right arm.
They created a tattoo design from what was already there; it was painless and fast. When I glanced at it, I was content.
I noticed a blue rose in the center of my upper arm, with my first name above it.
The blue rose appeared to be in a glass dome with leaf branches framing the top of it.
Once I left, I looked closer at my new tattoo, and I noticed that some of the letters in my first name were not clear. In this moment, I wished the ink wouldn’t take. In other words, I wished I would wake up and it would be gone.
I woke up to discover it was a dream, and I was relieved.
I have three tattoos that I got done by professionals. I could have gotten tattoos done by people who were self-taught, but I figured that I would regret them. I should have gotten a retouch on my foot tattoo. When I went to get a coverup, I was refused.
