It was clear to me at the police stop that she was in a crisis when she was overly apologetic and in her body language. 

I am not fond of the term reactive abuse because it gaslights the abused experience with the abuser.

People often use mental illness to minimize the abuse of others, and that's what appeared to happen at the stop. 

We need to normalize conversations about mental health and domestic violence. 💚 💜
