It would have been nice to see the story you are referring to or an excerpt of it at the beginning of the post. I can tell their response emotionally charged you to write this post. However, you do make a good point about gathering all the facts before forming opinions. Maybe write a disclaimer to avoid that if you know it's a sensitive subject. Inquire more with the commenter.
