Having to plan end-of-life arrangements for a loved one while they are still on life support has to be one of the most difficult things to do in life. The financial burden that comes with planning end-of-life arrangements makes the experience even more stressful.

I am grateful that insurance has provided coverage for his life-saving support, but that’s where the assistance ends as we enter yet another period of uncertainty.

Processing my emotions about this ordeal has taken months, largely because the uncertainty surrounding life and death is so profound.

I found myself wishing that more support and resources had been available to my family right from the start. It was only after I made the decision to reach out to 211, a free service that helps you find health and human services in your area that I realized the support we were initially given wasn’t tailored to a family in grief. Nevertheless, it was through inquiring about grief resources with the hospice social worker that I became informed about
