Someone in the spiritual community shared their confusion with people that typically do not speak on rap discourse, and I shared my sentiment underneath someone's comment, but I did not expand.
Kendrick Lamar represents individuality as he's independent, whereas Drake represents mass media as he's not independent (these are umbrella terms).
Music is universal, and if it's catchy enough, it will get the attention of the public.
Kendrick represents deep consciousness, so his lyrics will permeate and hopefully get others to think more critically about race and what we consume.
I am not going to get too deep into this topic, but this rap discourse will get others to think critically about what they consume and how it impacts them and others collectively.
