We are socially conditioned to mask the characteristics of ASD. We are unable to fully mask them, though, and because society prefers to use these characteristics against girls and women, we were left to our own devices for so long.

I believe that we were intentionally left out of research; I am self-diagnosed with suspicions by a former therapist who cannot formally diagnose me.
