While I grasp the perspectives of both the author and the commenter, I find them problematic and dismissive of those who can clearly discern how they are directly affected.

It seems the author aims to avoid victimhood within this oppressive system, and the commenter is reluctant to recognize their white privilege, which would force them to confront the possibility that their success is not solely merit-based.

Although I understand their stance, I cannot agree with it.

We are questioning their perceived reality. As I’ve stated previously, white privilege is the cornerstone of racism. Since racism is widespread, so is white privilege.

The author’s other privileges might make them oblivious to the skewed nature of their perspective. This is the essence of white privilege: it conditions its beneficiaries to remain unaware, while those who lack it but suffer oppression are conditioned to accept and not challenge the inequitable status quo.

White privilege affords white individuals' greater access and fewer obstacles. In essence, white people have the liberty to simply ‘be,’ whereas Black individuals must remain perpetually vigilant. Naturally, the degree of impact varies among us. Having been raised in poverty by young parents, I faced and overcame numerous challenges, yet consistently encountered hostility and discrimination because of both my gender and race.
