Do you write just for the money?
Do you write because you have a passion for it and want to earn a living from it?
The truth is, I want to share my wisdom and insights with others while earning from it.
Every now and then, I come across Medium writers claiming that their passion for writing is the reason they are on the platform, not for the earnings. While that’s perfectly fine, I often see these same writers commenting on stories highlighting how Medium’s lack of transparency has led to a decline in their earnings.
I’m not pleased with the state of Medium, but my love for writing keeps me here. However, I’m unsure how long I can continue since it’s not sustainable. Maybe if I had more engagement that’s organic, I would have more motivation to be consistent.
Everyone’s financial situations vary, so their motivations will differ accordingly.
One reason someone might mention that earnings do not influence their pursuit of writing is that they are in a comfortable financial situation.
